Under 19 Championship Semi Final
(18th of November 2023)
Lilliput Gaels                         2 - 10
Cill Oige                                2 - 11

Cill Oige were the visitors to Ballinagore last Saturday for the semi final of the U19 Championship. The visitors opened the scoring with a point however we hit back with a great goal from Shane Corcoran to take an early lead. Our opponents had most of the play for the next 10 minutes and were back level when we struck our 2nd goal with an opportunist strike from Adam Cassidy, however Cill oige got back level with 3 more points and on the stroke of half time we scored a free to have a very lucky lead at the interval 2-1 to 6 points. The 2nd half was as close as the 1st and the visitors took the lead with 10 minutes to go but we hit back with some great scores including 2 points from lively substitute Paddy Maloney to level the match and we missed a few opportunities to grab the win but the match finished level 2-6 to 1-9 to take the match to extra time.Cill oige got off to a great start in the 1st period of extra time with a goal and a point to go 4 up but we scored 3 points the pick been a monster effort from centre back Peter Murphy to be 1 point down at the break. As hard as we tried in the 2nd period we couldn't get level with Cill Oige and in the dying seconds we missed a glorious goal opportunity to win the match but it was Cill Oige who ran out winners by the smallest of margins. Overall this was a great game of football in testing conditions and our lads put on a great display all over the field and defended superbly against strong opposition with man of the match by a long way David Maloney winning heaps of possession and leading the line for us for the entire 80 minutes. Also a big shout out to Gerry O Malley who came in from the crowd and done physio for us .We would like to thank the management and panel for their efforts this year and wish Cill Oige the best in the final.

We played Shandonagh Tuesday evening in Ballinagore in the 3rd round of the championship. We got a huge start and were in complete control for the 1st half and with plenty of scores including 3 goals 2 from Shane Corcoran and 1 from Adam Cassidy we were full value for our 3-12 to 0-5 half time lead .We kept up the momentum for the 2nd half and added 2 more goals 1 more for Shane and an O.G.Shandonagh got 2 consolation goals near the end but we ran out convincing winners. We played the last 10 minutes with the full back line made up of the 3 Maloney brothers David,Shane and Conor which was great to see. This result leaves us on pole position in the group with 3 wins from 3.

We travelled to Killucan Wednesday evening to play the home side in the 2nd round of the Championship. The 1st half was a close affair with the home side taking an early advantage but we clawed our way back into the game and with the help of a great opportunist goal from Adam Cassidy we were level on the break 1-5 apiece.Killucan had the best of the early stages of the 2nd half but we stayed with them and got back to a point with a goal from sub Shane Corcoran however they moved ahead again and were 2 up going into injury time when Adam got his 2nd goal of the match with a great strike after some great teamwork.  St. Marys                              1- 13

We commenced our U19 campaign last in Ballinagore in ideal conditions against a strong St. Mary's outfit. St Mary's started strong and took an early lead. However, our lads took their goals chances when they presented themselves and we held a lead of five points at half time. We continued to hold the upper hand in the second half and finished the game with a seven point victory that included a well taken penalty by Shane Corcoran.
Team: Aaron Jackson, Andrew Dalton, David Maloney, Adam Clarke, Jack Mulligan, Peter Murphy, Sean Jackson, Shane Doran, Eoin Robinson, Patrick Maloney, Odhran Gavigan, Cathal Elliffe, Adam Cassidy, Shane Corcoran, Niall Claffey.

Under 19 Championship Quarter Final
(1st of September 2022)
Lilliput Gaels                         2-09
   The Downs                          3- 11
After some great performances in the earlier rounds of this competition our lads tamely exited at the quarter final stage to a far more eager Downs side. The visitors were well on top in the opening half and a goal and a point in the closing minutes of the half left us trailing by just a point at half time on a scorline of 1-6 to 1-5. We missed two goal chances in the first five minutes of the second half and were left to rue those misses when The Downs pounced for two goals of their own to secure the win. It was a dissappointing end to the season for this talented group and we congratulate them on reaching the knockout stages of this championship.
Panel; Peter Dalton, Dylan Franzoni, Ryan Boyne, Cathal Kelly, Sean Jackson, David Maloney, Shane Doran, Cathal Elliffe,(1-0) Peter Reynolds, Peter Murphy(0-4,0-1f), Warric Kirby(0-6,0-5f), Odhran Gavigan, Shane Corcoran(1-1), Cody Finnane,  Niall Claffey, Jack Mulligan, Eoin Robinson, Jack Gannon.

Under 19 Championship
(7th July 2022)
Lilliput Gaels                        3 - 15
St. Marys                             1 - 11
We continued our good start to the championship with another impressive display against a combined St. Marys/Milltownpass outfit in Rochfordbridge on Thursday last. A long range point from Cathal Elliffe opened the scoring and we went in at half time leading by 2-7 to 0-5 with the pick of our scores coming from a well worked  goal from Shane Doran. Our half forward line of Shane Corcoran, Warric Kirby and Peter Murphy really combined well and showed for every ball throughout the game. The home side continued to take the game to us in the second half and had our lead down to three points with ten minutes left but with Peter Reynolds dominating at midfield and Sean Kincaid having a fine game at corner back we pulled away in the closing stages .
Panel; Sean Jackson, Dylan Franzoni, Ryan Boyne, Sean Kincaid, Jack Mulligan, Cathal Kelly, Shane Doran(1-0), Cathal Elliffe,(0-1) Peter Reynolds(0-1), Peter Murphy(0-4), Warric Kirby(1-4), Shane Corcoran(1-4), Niall Claffey, Cody Finnane(0-1), Eoin Robinson, Odhran Gavigan.

Under 19 Championship
(30th June 2022)
Lilliput Gaels                        3 - 15
Millmore Gaels                     0 - 14

We played Millmore Gaels in the first round of this competition on Thursday last in Ballinagore and came away with a ten point win. The final score could certainly not have been predicted at half time as we held a slender two point lead and also having crashed an early penalty against the crossbar. In the second half it was a case of our lads converting their chances while our opponents were unlucky not to convert several goal chances although excellent defending from our lads was also a factor and Cathal Kelly bringing off some fine saves. A feature of the second half was the tremendous forays out of defence with the ball from Ryan Boyne, Jack Mulligan and Shane Doran that lead to several scores. This was a fine win against a good Millmore outfit and up next is an away fixture against St. Marys.

Panel; Cathal Kelly, Dylan Franzoni, Ryan Boyne, Sean Kincaid, Jack Mulligan, David Maloney, Shane Doran, Cathal Elliffe, Peter Reynolds, Peter Murphy, Warric Kirby, Shane Corcoran, Niall Claffey, Cody Finnane, Philip Reynolds, Eoin Robinson, Odhran Gavigan(inj).

Under 19 Championship Division 2 Final
(27th November 2021)
Lilliput Gaels                        1 - 08
Rosemount/Castledaly           2 - 12

Our U19 footballers travelled to Ballynacargy on Saturday afternoon to take on Rosemount/Castledaly in the Division 2 Final. A large crowd turned up in the bitterly cold conditions where the swirling breeze favoured neither team and made shooting conditions tricky. This game was closely contested for the most part with only two points separating the sides at half time, 2-03 to 1-04, with our goal coming from the boot of Darragh Seery after his run inside was well picked out with a lovely pass from Warwic Kirby. Our second half performance however wasn't enough to bridge the gap and while we were still only three points adrift at the second half water break, we were finding it difficult to find gaps in a disciplined and hard working Rosemount/Castledaly rearguard. Our opponents pulled clear in the final quarter and deservedly took the honours on a final score of 2-12 to 1-08. Despite the defeat, our team can be very proud of their championship campaign where we were treated to a number of exciting wins and some great football along the way so well done to the panel and their mentors, Paul Seery and Ollie Kirby..
Panel: Peter Dalton, Sean Jackson, Ryan Boyne, David Maloney, Cathal Kelly, Tiernan McMahon, Shane Doran, Conor Murphy, Cian Gavigan, Odhran Gavigan, Peter Reynolds, Darragh Seery, Warwic Kirby, Peter Murphy, Shane Corcoran., Dylan Franzoni, Cody Finnane, Cathal Elliffe, Sean Kincaid, Niall Claffey.

Under 19 Championship Division 2 Semi Final
(14th November 2021)
Lilliput Gaels                        4 - 09
Mullingar Shamrocks             0 - 08

Our U19 footballers qualified for the final of this years championship by virtue of an excellent win over Mullingar Shamrocks in Castletown last Sunday. Having played the town side earlier in the group stages and overcoming them narrowly in a closely fought battle, we knew that we would face a stiff challenge again in this semi-final. This is how it turned out in the first half and we held a slender lead at half time but our lads raised their game in the second half and a couple of early second half goals gave us the platform and confidence to run out convincing winners in the end. We will face a strong Cill Oige outfit in the final and we will have to be at the top of our game to win this championship but great credit to the players who, after a poor first round game against The Downs, have demonstrated their ability and determination in all their subsequent games to get to the final. Great to see returns to action for Cody Finnane and Peter Murphy after long term injuries. Well done to all involved.
Panel: Peter Dalton, Sean Jackson, Ryan Boyne, David Maloney, Cathal Kelly, Tiernan McMahon, Shane Doran, Cian Gavigan, Conor Murphy, Odhran Gavigan, Peter Reynolds, Darragh Seery, Warric Kirby, Peter Murphy, Shane Corcoran, Cody Finnane, Cathal Elliffe, Sean Kincaid, Niall Claffey, Dylan Franzoni, Jack Gannon

Under 19 Championship
(26th August 2021)

Lilliput Gaels                        3 - 09
Mullingar Shamrocks             2 - 07
Our U19 footballers topped their group and qualified for the semi-final of the championship following this excellent win over  Mullingar Shamrocks in Ballinagore last Thursday evening. For the second game in a row we had the bare fifteen on duty but the lads on show were deserving winners of this brilliant game of end to end football. We were  in front by three points at half time and with the help of a second Sean Kincaid goal we were still three up at the second water break. Mullingar were pressing hard in the last quarter and their fresh legs off the bench were making a difference but a fine attacking run by Dylan Franzoni resulted in a goal to clinch the points and put us into the semi finals.Panel; Sean Jackson, Peter Dalton, Ryan Boyne, Dylan Franzoni, Cathal Kelly, Tiernan McMahon, Shane Doran, Warwic Kirby, Cian Gavigan, David Jackson, Conor Murphy, Cathal Elliffe, Sean Kincaid, Peter Reynolds, Shane Corcoran.

(29th July 2021)

Lilliput Gaels                        7 - 09
Tyrrellspass                          4 - 09

We entertained neighbours Tyrrellspass in Ballinagore last Thursday evening in this third round group game and caused a major shock in accounting for the group leaders . Down a number of players we had to start the game with fourteen players before we had the full compliment available five minutes into the game.Playing with great skill and an abundance of spirit we held a five point lead at half time but when we went down to fourteen players with fifteen minutes left due to an injury the result looked in doubt. Huge credit to the lads for digging deep in the final quarter to run out deserving winners and as a result keeep us in this championship.

Minor Shield Division 2 Final
(19th October, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                        1 - 10
Athlone                                2 - 12
Athlone were the victors in this high quality Shield Final played in Moate on Saturday last. We played with the aid of the breeze in the first half and were extremely fortunate to go in at the break with a 0-6 to 0-5 lead as Athlone were unlucky when four clear goal attempts were somehow kept out of our net. When we went three points up midway through the second half we looked the likely winners but Athlone struck for two well taken goals to give them victory. The players and management deserve great credit for reaching this final, these young lads have come on in leaps and bounds this season and many of them played Intermediate championship this year and have a great future ahead of them.
Panel: Jamie Keenan, Mark Killian, Paddy Doran, Tiernan McMahon, Zach Wright, Darragh Seery, Fergal O'Brien, Morgan Gavigan,Cian Gavigan, Conor Murphy, Peter Reynolds, David Jackson, Conal Fagan, Eoin Glennon, Jack Gallagher, Warwic Kirby, Cody Finnane, Mark Kiernan, Lorcan Kiernan, Barry Bolger, Luke Seery, Ryan Boyne, Peter Dalton.

Minor Shield Semi Final Division 2
(11th September, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                       0 - 20
Mullingar Shamrocks            0-  08
We qualified for the Shield Final with a well merited win over Garrycastle in Ballinagore on Wednesday last. After a very tentative opening half  we held a three point lead but as in our previous game against Mullingar Shamrocks we came out a different side in the second half and blew away the opposition with some breath taking football to run out decisive winners. Athlone will provide stiff opposition in the final but our team have shown that they can contest at the top level in the minor grade so we should have no fear going into this fixture. Well done to all the players and the management.
Panel: Jamie Keenan, Mark Killian, Cian Gavigan, Tiernan McMahon, Zach Wright, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Morgan Gavigan, Darragh Seery, Conor Murphy, Peter Reynolds, David Jackson, Barry Bolger, Eoin Glennon, Jack Gallagher, Warwic Kirby, Cody Finnane, Mark Kiernan, Lorcan Kiernan, Luke Seery, Peter Dalton.

Under 17 Championship
(7th September, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                       1 - 07
St. Martins                          3-  17

A very strong combination side comprising of Millmore Gaels and Maryland/Tang ended our Under 17 championship asperations in Ballymore on Saturday last. At half time we trailed by six points but our opponents put us to the sword in the second half to run out easy winners. Well done to the lads for making themselves available for this competition as the games at minor and under 16 level are coming thick and fast.
Panel; Peter Dalton, David Jackson, Cian Gavigan, Ryan Boyne, Luke Seery, Tiernan McMahon, Shane Doran, Darragh Seery, Conor Murphy, Cathal Elliffe, Peter Reynolds, Warwic Kirby, Cody Finnane, Killian Bolger, Mark Killian, Niall Claffey.

Minor League Division 2
(20th August, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                       4 - 11
Mullingar Shamrocks            2-  17
We travelled to Springfield on Wednesday evening to play the home side in our final group game in this years minor championship and came agonisingly close to getting the win to secure our place in the semi finals. Mullingar had wind advantage in the first half and were well worth their half time lead of 0-9 to 0-5 . If we thought the elements alone would be enough to overtake the town side we were in for a shock in the opening minutes of the second half when  Shamrocks struck for a goal and several well worked points to put them in what looked like a winning position. Indeed with just a quarter of an hour left in the game we found ourselves fifteen points down until a Jack Gallagher goal stemmed the tide and this was shortly followed by another three pointer from Darragh Seery. With Shamrocks visibly tiring and our lads playing with great abandon and no little confidence we netted two more goals from the boots of Conor Murphy and Eoin Glennon and when Morgan Gavigan pointed a beauty of a point from a huge distance deep in injury time to put us a point up the comeback of all comebacks looked on. With all present expecting the kick out to be the final piece of action play was allowed continue and Shamrocks won a free which they converted to secure a draw in what was an epic battle. The club wishes to thank Conor Elliffe of " Domestic External Cleaning Services" for sponsoring the new jerseys which the lads wore with pride on Wednesday evening.
Panel: Jamie Keenan, Mark Killian, Cian Gavigan, Tiernan McMahon, Zach Wright, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Morgan Gavigan, Darragh Seery, David Jackson, Eoin Glennon, Conor Murphy, Conal Fagan, Peter Reynolds, Jack Gallagher, Cody Finnane, Ryan Boyne, Barry Bolger, Lorcan Kiernan, Luke Seery, Peter Dalton.

Minor League Division 2
(20th August, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                       1 - 17
Moate All Whites                 3-  13

Our chances of winning the league ended in Moate on Tuesday night last when we lost by two points to the home side. It took us until the second half to settle into this game as Moate hit us for two first half goals to give them a five point lead at the break. Despite putting the home team under severe pressure in the second half we could not claw back the deficit and Moate ran out  narrow winners, our focus now turns to the championship where we play Mullingar Shamrocks in the championship in Springfield on Wednesday 28th of August at 6.45pm.

Minor Championship Division 1
(14th August, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                       2 - 13
Shandonagh                        2-  14

We travelled to Shandonagh on Wednesday evening last  to take on Shandonagh in the second round of the championship. On a wet evening both sides served up a cracking game with just a goal seperating the sides at half time where the home side led on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-06. We looked to be destined for defeat until senior star, Morgan Gavigan, finished a great move with a fine goal to bring us back into the game but despite having some late chances of scores Shandonagh ran out one point winners. We send our best wishes to one of our club's most committed players, Conal Fagan, who recieved a shoulder injury during the game.
Panel: Jamie Keenan, Mark Killian, Cian Gavigan, Fergal O'Brien, Zach Wright, Conal Fagan, David Jackson, Paddy Doran, Morgan Gavigan, Peter Reynolds, Darragh Seery, Conor Murphy, Mark Kiernan, Eoin Glennon, Jack Gallagher, Warwic Kirby, Cody Finnane, Luke Seery.

Athlone                               3- 08
The minors started their championship campaign with a good win over a fancied Athlone outfit in Ballinagore on Wednesday evening. An early goal put the visitors in command but coming up to half time we regained control to lead by four points before Athlone struck for a late three pointer which left the half time score reading Lilliput Gaels 0-12, Athlone 2-5. The second half continued in the same vein with our lads notching some great points and holding a comfortable six point lead with five minutes left before Athlone converted a penalty but our lads showed great composure to fire over three unanswered points to secure the win. Well done to all involved on this fine start to the championship.

(14th July, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                       4 - 21
Garrycastle                          0 - 10
On Sunday morning we travelled to Garrycastle to take on the home side in sweltering conditions. With several of these lads having played with our Intermediate side against Kilbeggan and playing their third minor game in six days it would have been expected that the energy levels would be low but to their credit the lads produced their best display of the week to run out convincing winners.

Caulry                                2 - 09

Caulry were the visitors to Ballinagore on Wednesday evening in our second minor league fixture. Despite the wet conditions both sides served up a good game with plenty of quality scores taken and tigerish defending also on show. After a low scoring first half we went in at the break ahead by a goal and despite allowing Caulry in for two goals we managed to hold on for a well deserved win. Thanks to all the lads who togged out on the night and with the right attitude this side will take beating in our remaining game.

Panel; Lorcan Kiernan, Zach Wright, Cian Gavigan, Fergal O'Brien, Tiernan McMahon, Darragh Seery, David Jackson, Morgan Gavigan, Paddy Doran, Barry Bolger, Peter Reynolds, Conor Murphy, Jack Gallagher, Eoin Glennon, Conall Fagan, Warwic Kirby, Mark Killian, Mark Kiernan, Harry Ripley, Cody Finnane, Luke Seery.

The minor footballers travelled to Tubberclair on Monday but had to give second best to the home side after an exciting hours football. With both sides trading point for point from the first whistle this was always going to be a close encounter but three goals in the second quarter left the home side in front by three points at half time. just when we closed to within three points of our opponents mid way throgh the second half Tubberclair replied with another goal and as hard as we tried we could not peg back  to our opponents.

We had our second win in the league in Ballinagore on Friday evening when we disposed of the challenge of the Rosemount/Castledaly combination. Despite having to field without county players Conor Murphy and Cian Gavigan and the injured Lorcan Kiernan, the lads on show put in a great shift and ran out easy winners playing a fast attacking brand of football.

(3rd February, 2019)

Lilliput Gaels                       0 - 06

The Downs                         5- 09

We opened our playing season for 2019 when we took on The Downs in the Under 20 League in Castletown on Sunday morning. With several of our panel unavailable we knew we would be up against it playing one of the strongest sides in the competition but the lads on show put up a great performance. It took us a long time to settle as our lads were handling a ball for the first time but a magnificent long range point from Morgan Gavigan gave us a foothold in the game.
The Downs were more clinical in attack and combined well for some well taken goals whereas our forwards were unlucky not to score three goals from three great chances we created in the second half. This is our first time to enter an Under 20 or Under 21 side in quite a while so we thank the players for requseting to enter this competition which will bring their football skills on no end. Well done to manager, David Lynch, and his backroom team of Damien Keelan, Neal Kirby, Stephen Brudell and Kieran Glennon for taking on with this team and we wish them well for the year ahead.

Panel; Conal Fagan, Dylan Clarke, Aaron Glennon, Finian Heeney, Morgan Gavigan(0-1), Adam Gavigan(Capt), Conan Feery, Eoin Kiernan, Paddy Doran, Stephen Clarke, Eoin Glennon(0-5,0-2f), Nathan Brudell, Connor Murphy, Eoin Deegan, Jack Gallagher, Fergal O'Brien.

We came up against a very good St. Loman's side in Ballinagore on Sunday morning and although we put up a good fight our opponents were just too strong all over the field. Well done to our lads for keeping up a fine effort right to the end and two excellent Morgan Gavigan golas were just rewards for our second half display.

Panel: Lorcan Kiernan, Mark Killian, Conal Fagan, Cian Gavigan, Tiernan McMahon, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Morgan Gavigan, Eoin Glennon, Zach Wright, Jack Gallagher, Conor Murphy, Peter Reynolds, Darragh Seery, Barry Bolger, Luke Seery, Cody Finnane.

Moate All Whites                 1- 05

Our U17 side played their first ever championship game last Wednesday evening against Moate in Ballinagore and came away with a convincing win. This was a fine team performance and the lads worked very hard for each other throughout. Next up in this knock out competition for us is a home fixture against St. Lomans on Sunday 16th. Panel: Lorcan Kiernan, Mark Killian, Conal Fagan, Cian Gavigan, Tiernan McMahon, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Darragh Seery, Morgan Gavigan, Conor Murphy, Jack Gallagher, Zach Wright, Barry Bolger, Eoin Glennon, Matthew Looram, Peter Reynolds, David Jackson, Cody Finnane, Mark Kiernan, Adam McGoldrick, Luke Seery, Cathal Kelly.

Minor Championship Div 3
(9th August, 2018)

Lilliput Gaels                       4 - 12

Milltownpass                       3- 19

Our minor team came up against a strong Milltownpass side on Thursday evening in Ballinagore and suffered a four point defeat after an entertaining and close encounter. With just one point separating the sides at half time, 2-07 to 1-11, the scene was set for a hard fought second half battle. Milltownpass took control for the opening fifteen minutes and in a purple patch that yielded 2-04 in less than ten minutes, we looked dead and buried. However, our lads rose to the occasion and dominated from there until the end and with Morgan Gavigan in fine scoring form, we stormed back into the game and indeed could have been a lot closer as we missed a penalty and kicked some bad wides. However a well balanced Milltownpass side were full value for their win and we now turn our attention to our next game where a win will have us right back in the chase for a semi-final spot.
Panel: Jamie Fallon, Conal Fagan, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Darragh Seery, Dylan Clarke, Finian Heeney, Eoin Kiernan, Conor Murphy, Aaron Glennon, Jack Gallagher, Morgan Gavigan, Barry Bolger, Peter Reynolds, Cian Gavigan.

St. Michaels                        1- 06

We got our championship ambitions back on track in no uncertain terms with this landslide victory over St. Michaels in Ballinagore on Monday night. The result was never in doubt and was over before half time where we held a 3-14 to 0-4 lead. There will be far stiffer challenges ahead in this championship so lets hope the lads will put in the training and keep up the intensity they brought to this game.

Panel: Jamie Keenan, Conal Fagan, Matthew Looram, Fergal O'Brien, Darragh Seery, Dylan Clarke, Paddy Doran, Eoin Kiernan, Conor Murphy, Aaron Glennon, Eoin Glennon, Jack Gallagher, Eoin Deegan, Barry Bolger, Jamie Fallon, Finian Heeney(inj).

(9th July, 2018)

Lilliput Gaels                       4 - 13

St. Marys                            6 - 08

Our minors lost by a solitary point in this high scoring encounter played in Rochfortbridge last Monday evening. It was score for score in this championship opening game until St. Marys struck for three quick fire goals just before half time to leave us chasing the game in the second half. The lads put in a huge second half and can be deemed very unlucky not to at least force a draw but if they reproduce this form they will be hard beaten in the rest of the competition.
Panel: Jamie Fallon, Conal Fagan, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Darragh Seery, Dylan Clarke, Finian Heeney, Eoin Kiernan, Conor Murphy, Aaron Glennon, Eoin Glennon, Morgan Gavigan, Jack Gallagher, Jamie Keenan, Eoin Deegan, Cian Gavigan, Barry Bolger, Peter Reynolds.

Lilliput Gaels                       3 - 09

Tubberclair                         3 - 13

We hosted Tubberclair on Wednesday evening in Ballinagore where both teams played out a very entertaining game of open and fast football. It was nip and tuck throughout the first half and at half time Tubberclair were in front by 2-05 to 2-04. The game continued in this vein during the second half but in the end and despite an excellent display  from our lads the visitors emerged with the league points. As in our previous outing we notched a tally of 3-09 which is a respecable score so hopefully a win is on the horizon for this hard working bunch.

Panel, Jamie Keenan, Conal Fagan, Matthew Looram, Barry Bolger, Fergal O'Brien, Darragh Seery, Dylan Clarke, Aaron Glennon, Finian Heeney, Conor Murphy, Morgan Gavigan, Jack Gallagher, Jamie Fallon, Paddy Doran, Peter Reynolds.

Lilliput Gaels                       3 - 09

Millmore Gaels                    2 - 19

We hosted Millmore Gaels last Wednesday evening in Ballinagore in a game we were unlucky not to gain something out of despite being short a few players. We held a one point lead at half time but Millmore upped their game with wind assistance in the second half to run out winners

Panel: Jamie Keenan, Conal Fagan, Matthew Looram, Barry Bolger, Dylan Clarke, Eoin Kiernan, Eoin Glennon, Aaron Glennon, Paddy Doran, Finian Heeney, Morgan Gavigan, Jack Gallagher, Conor Murphy, Jamie Fallon.

Mullingar Shamrocks            4 - 09

Our minors travelled to Multyfarnham on Sunday morning with the bare fifteen to take on the home side in this third round fixture. The lads that turned up on the day gave their all but the disadvantage of being unable to bring on fresh legs probably cost us this game.
Panel: Jamie Fallon, Cian Gavigan, Eoin Kiernan, Conal Fagan, Dylan Clarke, Aaron Glennon, Morgan Gavigan, Darragh Seery, Finian Heeney, Peter Reynolds, Eoin Glennon, Fergal O'Brien, Jamie Keenan, Conor Murphy, Barry Bolger.

Mullingar Shamrocks            3 - 09

We suffered our second defeat in the league when Mullingar took the honours in this game played in Ballinagore on Sunday morning. We were short a number of players but the lads on show made Shamrocks fight all the way to the final whistle in an entertaining game.

         Garrycastle                           1 - 13

Our minors had their first outing of the year when they played Garrycastle in Ballinagore on Sunday morning. Played in very wet conditions it was the visitors who prevailed on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-06. The management team wish to thank the lads who made themselves available on such a bad morning and with a few more training sessions under their belts this side will improve as the season progresses.

Panel; Jamie Fallon, Conal Fagan, Paddy Doran, Matthew Looran, Fergal O'Brien, Eoin Kiernan, Darragh Seery, Aaron Glennon, Finian Heeney, Eoin Glennon, Morgan Gavigan, Jack Gallagher, Jamie Keenan, Dylan Clarke, Barry Bolger, Conor Murphy.

Minor Championship Div 2 Semi Final
(15th October, 2017)

Lilliput Gaels                         2 - 05

         Caulry                                  2 - 18

In damp conditions in Rochfordbridge on Sunday last our minors made a tame exit from the championship when they lost out to a far more committed and focussed Caulry side. Our lads never turned up on the day and will be bitterly dissappointed with their display as they know themselves they are a far better side than this. We conceded 1-3 in the first five minutes and never really put together any of the good play we had shown in previous games  and were ten points down at half time. The second half performance was slightly better but we never looked like making any serious inroads to the big lead Caulry amassed in the first half and they ran out deserving winners. The players will feel they let down their hard working management team of  Stephen Brudell, Liam Glennon, Ed Bermingham and Kieran Glennon but there will be far better days ahead for this talented bunch of players.

Minor Championship Div 2 Quarter Final
(6th September, 2017)

Lilliput Gaels                         4 - 10

         Shandonagh                          2 - 05

We travelled to Shandonagh on Wednesday evening to take on the reigning Premier Minor Champions in the quarter final of the Division 2 Championship. In a very tough first half where both defences were to the fore we were more than happy to go in at half time with a four point lead although William Ashmore was unlucky not to end the half with a goal after a brilliant build up saw his shot well saved. The game was won in the first ten minutes of the second half where Sean McGuinness and Stephen Clarke both notched well taken goals to put us well in control of the game. Shandonagh never gave up and got in for two goals late in the game but we held on to qualify for the semi final. Every player on show was really up for this game but our defenders deserve special mention as their tackling without fouling and link up play when in possession was excellent. If this team approaches the semi final with the same attitude they will be a force to be reckoned with in this championship.
Keenan Carroll, Eoin Kiernan, Adam Gavigan, Finian Heeney, David Ennis, Fiacra Heeney, Nathan Brudell, William Ashmore(1-0), Aaron Glennon, Stephen Clarke(1-2), Pauric Kane, Oisin O'Donoughue(0-1,f), Dylan Clarke(0-2), Sean McGuinness(2-3,0-2f), Robbie Keegan, Conal Fagan, Darren Fagan, Morgan Gavigan, Fergal O'Brien, Paddy Doran, Cormac Jackson, Jack Gallagher

Minor Championship
(21st August, 2017)

Lilliput Gaels                         3 - 10

         Maryland/Tang                     3 - 13

We played our final game in the league championship which determines which championship we qualify for in this game played in Ballinagore on Monday evening. Having ran all three teams in our group close we can count ourselves unlucky not to enter the premier championship but we certainly should be well capable of putting up a good show in the division 2 championship. The handicap of missing a few of our regular players proved too much as Maryland/Tang raced into a big lead early in the game and try as we might we could not reel them in.

Minor Championship
(9th August, 2017)

Lilliput Gaels                         1 - 19

         Caulry                                  5 - 10

Yet again our minors posted a huge score but came out the losers in this thriller played in Ballinagore on Wednesday evening. We were short a number of players on the night but the lads that lined out put in a magnificent display and if we had converted the goal chances we created we could well have been the victors.

Minor Championship
(26th July, 2017)

Lilliput Gaels                         3 - 14

         Kilbeggan/St.Josephs             6 - 07

We opened our championship campaign with a defeat in this game played in Kilbeggan on Wednesday evening. On a wet and windy evening it was the home side who had advantage of the wind in the first half and were well worth their five point lead at half time. The introduction of Morgan Gavigan for the second half proved an astute move as he scored 1-04 to put us in the lead but Kilbeggan/ St. Josephs still kept the scoreboard ticking over everytime they attacked. An accidental collision meant two of our better players on the night, Oisin Donoughue and Eoin Kiernan, were lost to injury and this seemed to sway the momentum back in our opponents favour. When a well worked move was finished by Dylan Clarke to put us a point up with time almost up we looked to have secured victory but in the last attack of the game we conceded a goal.
Panel; Keenan Carroll, Darren Fagan, Adam Gavigan, David Ennis, Nathan Brudell, Fiacra Heeney, Eoin Kiernan, Oisin O'Donoughue, Aaron Glennon, Stephen Clarke, Dylan Clarke, Pauric Kane, Ciaran O'Brien, Sean McGuinness, Cormac Jackson, Fergal O'Brien, Adam Keegan, Eoin Glennon, Morgan Gavigan.

Lilliput Gaels                         5 - 17

         Kilbeggan/St.Josephs             2 - 12

Our minors recorded their third win in this division with a very impressive display of football against our local rivals. We held a very healthy half time lead and our opponents only came into the game in the last quarter when they took some fine scores. This will be these lads last game before the exams  and we hope they will continue their recent run of form when they return to action.
Panel; Keenan Carroll, Finian Heeney, Adam Gavigan, David Ennis, Nathan Brudell, Fiacra Heeney, Eoin Kiernan, Robbie Keegan, Aaron Glennon, Stephen Clarke, Oisin O'Donoughue, Pauric Kane, Ciaran O'Brien, Sean McGuinness, Dylan Clarke, William Ashmore, Fergal O'Brien, Jack Gallagher, Eoin Glennon, Darren Fagan, Morgan Gavigan.

        Milltownpass                              2 - 14

After our hard earned win over Multy our last game we faced into this championship opener played in Ballinagore in a confident mood. At the end of an entertaining first half  we found ourselves behind by three points but in an improved second half showing we moved into a three point lead with ten minutes left. Milltownpass stepped up a gear and went ahead by a point with time almost up and in the final attack of the game they struck for their second goal to clinch the match.

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore            3 - 09

        Multyfarnham                            1 - 12

In our first game after a long break we overcame a spirited challenge from Multy to come away with a win in this game played in Multy. With a small panel to pick from its vital that every player makes himself available and with just fifteen players on show we almost paid the price as we just about hung on for this win. We started brightly and were well ahead at the break as we scored our three goals in the first half but with no subs to call on it was great credit to the team to hold out in the second half. Next up is Milltownpass in the first round of the championship on Wednesday 20th of July.

We were short the services of a few players, however the team put in a very creditable performance throughout considering it was our first game and we have not commenced minor training as of yet. Two goals separated the sides at half time and it was nip and tuck in the second half but our opponents greater prowess in front of goal that saw them win with a bit to spare in the end.

We lost our second game in the championship to Milltownpass in this game played in Ballinagore on Wednesday last. With a small panel to pick from we are always going to find it tough going when we are short players as this is a very competitive competition and we thank the players that made themselves available on the night. Trailing by seven points at half time we could not make any further inroads into that lead in the second half as hard as the boys tried.

The teams were very evenly matched and we went in at half time just two points down. We converted a penalty early in the second half to put us in front but Ballynacargy finished the stronger to run out deserving six point winners.

We played Moate in the third round of the championship in Ballinagore on Tuesday night last. Having lost  in our previous two matches we could not progress to the premier championship phase but we still hoped to put in a good performance against a strong  Moate side. Despite being short several of our stronger players the lads on show all gave of  their best and if our two mentors, Shane Herity and Joe Glennon, have a full panel to pick from then this team can go well in the Division 2 Championship.

2013

Minor League Championship

(11th September, 2013)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             0 - 10

        Tubberclair                                 4 - 14

The minors exited the championship when they were beaten by Tubberclair in a game played in Tubberclair on Wedneday night last. After the county side’s great run in Leinster this year the standard of football at this age group is very high with several clubs fancying their chances of winning the minor title. Tubberclair are among the favourites to go far and after this display it will take a very good side to beat them as they were on top in most areas against our hardworking side.
Panel: Cathal Daly, Alan Kincaid, Liam McNally Woods, Stephen Fagan, Paddy Doody, Conor Glennon, Mick Heeney, Liam Cassidy, Frankie Deegan, Conor Kane, Brandon Carey, Andrew Corbett, Paddy Ennis, David Keegan, Johnny Bermingham, Dan Glennon, Pauric Kincaid, Shane Ward.

2012

Minor Club 2 Championship  Final

(13th October, 2012)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 11

Maryland/Tang                           1 - 08

For the fourth year in a row our minor side contested a county final and came away with a third trophy from four final appearances. Its a tremendous achievement for a small club like ours to have annexed two Club 2 Championships and a Premier Championship and to lose another Premier final by a point with such a small pool of players to draw on. Last Saturday in Rosemount was yet another great day in the annals of St.Malachys/Ballinagore when we defeated  Maryland/Tang by a margin of six points in a match played before a big crowd. Ten minutes into the game we looked to be in serious trouble as our opponents were scoring at will to race into a five point lead until Kieran Glennon struck for a great goal to bring us back into the game. The game then swung away from us again until man of the match, Kieran Glennon, fielded a long delivery and smashed the ball to the net to leave us just a point down at half time on a score of St. Malachys/Ballinagore 2-2, Maryland/Tang 1-6. We had to defend well for the opening minutes of the second half but then we took control in most areas of the field to force our opponents into a rearguard action for the remainder of the game. We hit a lot of wides at this stage of the game but when the ball was played in direct to our full forward line we began to profit on the chances we created . The second half display wasn’t just route one football though as the boys put together plenty of flowing moves and their high fielding and disciplined tackling were out of the top drawer. There were joyous scenes at the final whistle as these lads know how hard it is to win a football championship in any grade and with a little luck earlier in the season could very well have made it into the Club 1 semi finals. Well done to Liam McDaniels, Joe Glennon and Shane Herity for the work they put in with this side throughout the year and we wish Conor Marlowe of Maryland/Tang a speedy recovery from the injury he sustained on Saturday. The final score was St.  Malachys/Ballinagore 2-11, Maryland/Tang 1-08.

Panel; Cathal Daly, Stephen Fagan, Enda Claffey, Alan Kincaid, Michael Heeney(0-1), Liam Varley, Sean Mullarkey, Shane Clavin(0-1), Conor Glennon, Alan Clarke(0-1), Niall O’Brien(0-5,0-4f), David Keegan, Eoin Quinn, Kieran Glennon(2-3), Frankie Deegan, James Bermingham, Liam Cassidy, Pauric Kincaid, David Pidgeon, Paddy Doody, Eoin Mullarkey.

We qualified for the Division 2 Championship  final with a great win over Killucan in a game played in Kinnegad on Sunday morning last.Killucan had the advantage of the strong breeze in the first half and went in at half time with a three point lead. It took us until mid way of the second half to go in front and we were all out to hang on for a two point win over a typically determined Killucan outfit. We now look forward to our fourth minor final in a row and hope to repeat our Club 2 win in 2009.

Panel; Liam Cassidy, Stephen Fagan, Enda Claffey, Alan Kincaid, Sean Mullarkey, Liam Varley, Michael Heeney, Alan Clarke(0-4,0-3f), Connor Glennon, David Keegan(0-1), Niall O’ Brien(0-4), Eoin Quinn(0-1), Johnny Bermingham, Ciaran Glennon(2-1), Frankie Deegan(1-0), Eoin Mullarkey, Pauric Kincaid.

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             5 - 12

The Downs                                 0 - 14

The minors qualified for the Division 2 Championship semi final with a good win over The Downs in a game played in Ballinagore on Saturday last. With a full squad to pick from hopes were high that this side would produce the goods against a team that contained players who had played senior with The Downs this year. Playing fast determined football our lads gave their best performance of the year and ran out convincing winners despite missing two penalties. In a game where every player gave of his best special mention must go to our goalkeeper, Cathal Daly, who pulled off some magnificent saves and also to Sean Mullarkey who had a great game.

Panel; Cathal Daly, Stephen Fagan, Enda Claffey, Alan Kincaid, Sean Mullarkey(0-1), Liam Varley(1-0), Michael Heeney, Shane Clavin, Connor Glennon, David Keegan(0-1), Niall O’ Brien(0-2), Eoin Quinn(0-1), Liam Cassidy(1-1), Ciaran Glennon(2-2,0-1f), Frankie Deegan(0-1),  David Pidgeon, Johnny Bermingham, Alan Clarke(1-1,0-1f), Eoin Mullarkey(0-1).

St. Marys                                   0 - 11

On Thursday evening last St. Marys were the visitors to Ballinagore for our final game. In a very open game of football where both sides created numerous scoring chances we emerged deserving winners on the night on a scoreline of St. Malachys Ballinagore 0-16, St. Marys 0-11. We now enter the Division 2 Championship which is a knockout competition for which we will have to step up our intensity levels a few notches to make any impression in a championship we last won in 2009.

(24th August, 2012)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             4 - 07

Rosemount                                 3 - 12

The minors began this years competition with a two point defeat to Rosemount in a good game played in Ballinagore on Monday night last. With only the bare fifteen to call on this was always going to be an uphill battle against opponents who had three county minors on their team. We went in at half time up by four points having squandered five clear goal scoring opportunities but could not hold out for a win in the second half as we needed fresh legs to keep out a strong Rosemount side. Well done to  the boys who turned out for giving a fine display, especially Liam Varley, who lined out despite carrying a hand injury. Liam showed great loyalty to his club and respect to his team mates and mentors by making himself available thus enabling us to field a  team.

Panel; Cathal Daly, Alan Kincaid, Michael Heeney, Stephen Fagan,  David Keegan(1-0), Shane Clavin(0-2,0-1f), Sean Mullarkey, Liam Varley(1-2), Conor Glennon, Liam Cassidy(1-0pen), Eoin Quinn, Alan Clarke(0-1f), Frankie Deegan, Ciaran Glennon(1-2,0-1f), Pauric Kincaid.

Garrycastle                                 1 - 13

The minor team took on Garrycastle in the Championship on Monday last in Garrycastle. This was always going to be a tough ask of our small panel to take on a side that are always strong in every age group especially as we were missing a few regulars due to holidays and the Gaelteacht. Great credit to the lads who turned out for their club and gave a fantastic display to come away with a draw on the night.

Panel; Cathal Daly, Stephen Fagan, Enda Claffey, Alan Kincaid, Mick Heeney, Shane Clavin, David Pidgeon, Liam Varley, Eoin Quinn, Johnny Bermingham, Kieran Glennon, Paddy Doody, Pauric Kincaid, David Keegan, Eoin Mullarkey, Ed Bermingham.

The minor team took on Tyrellspass in the sixth round of the league last Sunday morning in Tyrrellspass. We played Ballynacargy in our opening league game in Ballynacargy on Sunday morning last. Having conceeded a goal in the first minute we recovered well to lead by 1-7 to 1-2 at half time but the giving away of numerous easy frees in the second half  led to our downfall and we lost the game by a point on a final scoreline of 1-9 to 1-8.

2011

Minor Club 1 Championship Semi Final.

(5th November, 2011)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             0 - 06

Athlone                                       2 - 05

We made our exit from the Club 1 Championship to a strong Athlone side in this game played under lights in Athlone on Saturday night last. The late arrival of several members of our stating 15 left us very disorganised and completely on the backfoot to our opponents from the offset, who led at half time by 1-05 to 0-00. With a mountain to climb in the second half we finally got into our stride and whittled down Athlone's lead to a goal but after a thunderous shot cannoned off Athlone's crossbar they broke down field to grab their only score of the half, a goal, which sealed victory for them. This was a disappointing way for this talented side to end their year but hopefully they will have learned that if you fail to prepare then you prepare to fail.

Minor Premier Championship  Final

(2nd October, 2011)

Ennell Shamrocks                        2 - 08

St. Ciarans                                  3 - 06

Our brave bid for back to back premier titles came unstuck in Cusack Park on Sunday last. A formidable St. Ciarans side made up of players from Garrycastle, Caulry and Castledaly were the victors on the day. From the throw in our opponents had us on the backfoot and were a point up after 20 seconds and had amassed a lead of 1-2 to no score after eight minutes before Neal Kirby struck for our first point. By half time we had taken the lead but we were still not firing on all cyclinders and allowed St. Ciarans in for two easy goals in the second half. Our players were very sluggish in the second half and were not helped by the stop start nature of the game due to nemerous stoppages for injuries. We had whittled down our opponents four point lead to a point and were really getting on top when they scored their third goal in a breakaway attack, this left us with a further mountain to climb but as usual this side never gave up and with a minute left Niall O Brien scored a goal after we hit the woodwork three times in succession in our three previous attacks. When the final whistle was blown our players were devastated as they knew they had not perfomed to their full potential on the day but such is sport and these players have done us proud throughout the year and all will have wonderful careers in the game ahead of them. Our two injured players , Michael Dever and David Fennell, are well on the road to recovery we are pleased to say.

(23rd September, 2011)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 13

St. Marys                                   1 - 07

By virtue of this hard earned victory over St. Marys in this game played under lights in Kinnegad our minors have qualified for the semi final of the Club 1 Championship. Missing three of our regulars and with some players arriving home from college just before throw in we were certainly there for the taking but after a shaky opening thirty minutes the boys put in an excellant second half performance to secure our win over a very talented Rochfordbridge side. The draw for the semi final pairings will be made on Sunday next after the county final in Cusack park.

Minor Premier Championship Semi Final

(11th September, 2011)

Ennell Shamrocks                        0 - 14

Shannon Gaels                             0 - 04

For the second year in a row we have qualified for the final of the Premier Championship after overcoming a fancied Shannon Gaels side made up of a combination of Tubberclair and Maryland/Tang in this game played in Moate on Sunday last. The gale force wind blowing towards the road end  made this a game of  all out defending when playing against the wind and all out attack when aided by the elements. Having lost the toss we were given wind advantage in the first half and were under pressure to put up a respectable score. An early point from Ciaran Glennon settled us down and we went on to avail of most of our chances to go in at half time leading on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-1 but after two missed goal chances by our opponents this eight point lead looked far from secure. With the assistance of the strong wind and being physically bigger than our side in every position we expected Shannon Gaels to throw everything at us and keep us pinned in our own half for the remainder of the game but our boys showed that they were'nt going to relinquish their hold on last years trophy without putting up a fight. It was Ennell Shamrocks that took the game to our opponents and we scored two early points and with our defence being completely on top we dominated the second half to run out convincing winners. We now face St. Ciarans (Garrycastle/Castledaly/Caulry) in the final in Cusack Park on October 2nd at 2pm before the senior final. Well done to all involved with this team in reaching the Premier Final for the second year in a row and having our clubs represented on the biggest day of the sporting calender in Westmeath and also a big thank you to all our supporters who turned out on such a terrible morning.

(31st August, 2011)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 15

Killucan                                      1 - 11

An understrength side got the better of a strong Killucan outfit in this game played in Killucan. It was point for point until Ciaran Glennon scored a great goal to give us some breathing space and shortly afterwards a well worked goal finished by Neal Kirby left us leading at half time by 2-8 to 0-3. Killucan scored two quick points on the resumption and then came right back into the game when they goaled from the penalty spot. Our defence had to be on their toes as Killucan attacked relentlessly and our attack took some great scores from limited possession to seal this hard earned victory.

Tubberclair                                 1 - 07

We got the better of Tubberclair in this well contested game played in Ballinagore. On a dreadful evening for a game, the standard of football was excellent with all players giving their all to defeat the League 1 Champions.

(3rd August, 2011)

Ennell Shamrocks                        2 - 13

Coralstown/Kinnegad                   2 - 05

We qualified for the semi final of the premier championship with a hard earned victory over a dogged and determined Coralstown/Kinnegad side in this game played in The Downs. We went in at half time leading by 1-07 to 0-03 but were fortunate to be in front as our opponents missed at least three golden opportunities of goals. Shamrocks had to really up their game in the second half to put this game away. Our next game is against everyones tip for this years title, Shannon Gaels, so a much improved performance will be required to retain our title.

Panel:  Eoin Quinn, Michael Heeney, Dean McDermott , Niall Gunning, Liam Varley,David Lynch, Luke Peppard, Aonghus Clarke(0-1), Shane Clavin(0-2),Michael Dever, Ciaran Glennon(1-0) , Damien McCormack

Ennell Shamrocks                        3 - 12

Dunlucan                                    2 - 03

The opening round of this years championship pitted us against a strong combination in The Downs and Killucan who have several county players on their panel. Without three players from last years winning side due to holidays we needed our big players to stand up and be counted and as is their fashion this is exactly what they did. Well done to all involved with this fine side and we now look forward to our quarter final meeting with Coralstown/Kinnegad.

Panel:  Eoin Quinn(0-1),Michael Heeney, Dean McDermott , Niall Gunning, Michael Dever,David Lynch, Luke Peppard, Liam Varley, Aonghus Clarke, Alan Clarke(0-1), Ciaran Glennon , Damien McCormack

Minor League Division 1

(4th July, 2011)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 09

Tubberclair                                 2 - 11

The 2011 Div 1 League title went to the home side in this thrilling match on a lovely evening for football. Our centre back David Lynch was missing due to injury and both Michael Dever and Neal Kirby carried injuries into the game from the senior game the previous day but these setbacks did not deter this team from putting it up to a physically huge Tubberclair team who were unbeaten in the league, but a win for us would have given us the title on score difference. We went in at halftime behind by three points on a scoreline of 2-5 to 2-2 with the second goal scored by our opponents very questionable to say the least. With ten minutes left we were reduced to 14 players but this spurred us on to dominate the closing exchanges but we knew our luck was'nt in on the night when we had a penalty saved and also hit the post. Well done to Tubberclair on claiming the League title and they were deserving winners on the night.

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 24

Athlone                                      1 - 06

With our last game in the league being all of four months ago our side would have been excused for being well off the pace but the opposite was true as this side started where they left off in February when they handed out Athlone a 21 point defeat. This win sets us up for a winner takes all league final against Tubberclair in our last game of the league.

Minor League Division 1

(27th February, 2011)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             3 - 15

Mullingar Shamrocks                   3 - 05

The large crowd in Ballinagore on Sunday morning last were treated to a brilliant display of football from an on fire minor side. Up against a strong town side and with eight of our team having played a match the previous evening our lads could be forgiven if they gave an under par display but as usual these lads produced the goods when it mattered. All of our scores came from play and many came from sweeping upfield  passing movements that were a joy to behold. Two of our younger players, Michael Heeney and David Pidgeon, deserve a mention for their outstanding displays as does full-forward Niall O' Brien who scored six fabulous points with either foot and Shane Clavin who netted two goals  for the second week in a row.

Panel:  Alan Kincaid,Michael Heeney, Dean McDermott , Niall Gunning,Liam Varley , David Lynch ,David Pidgeon, Aonghus Clarke(0-1), Michael Dever,Alan Clarke(0-2), Ciaran Glennon (0-2),

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 14

Moate All Whites                        1 - 13

We opened our league campaign with a hard fought victory over a very good Moate All Whites side in this game played in Moate. Our lads looked to be heading for an easy victory at half time leading by 2-8 to 0-5. Moate had other ideas, however, and improved greatly in the second half and at the end of an excellent game we held on to collect the two points on offer.

St. Malachys/Ballinagore             2 - 05

St. Lomans                                0 - 14

St. Loman's ended our Championship hopes in this game played in Kinnegad.  St. Lomans led at the break 0-7 to 1-2 and were the better team on the night.  But our lads were a treat in front of goals, particulary Neal Kirby who looked very sharp all through the game.

Panel:  Jordan Cassidy, Michael Dever, Dean McDermott, Niall Gunning, Liam Varley, Aonghus Clarke, Luke Cassidy (capt) (1-0), Diarmuid Garvin,  Niall Kelly, Eoin Quinn, Darren Ruane, Ciaran Glennon (0-1), Neal Kirby (1-4), Niall O'Brien, Alan Clarke  Subs:

Less than a week after our premier win, the team was out again in this quarter final played in Ballinagore.  We were short David Lynch through injury, but the rest of the panel made up for it in no uncertain terms with this resounding victory.

Panel:  Jordan Cassidy, Michael Dever, Dean McDermott, Niall Gunning, Liam Varley, Aonghus Clarke, Luke Cassidy (capt), Diarmuid Garvin (0-4, 0-1f),  Niall Kelly (0-3), Eoin Quinn, Darren Ruane (0-3), Ciaran Glennon (0-4), Neal Kirby (1-3), Niall O'Brien (1-0), Alan Clarke  Subs:

Minor Premier Championship Final

(3rd October, 2010)

Ennell Shamrocks             1 - 09

St. Lomans                       1 - 08

Our Minors won their second every premier championship with the narrowest of wins over hot favourites, St Lomans in the curtain raiser to the Senior Football final.  Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, things didn't look good at half time when we were down by 2 points and had lost influential centre-back David Lynch with a broken arm.  Undaunted by the elements and our highly-rated opponents the team put in a highly spirited second half to lead by four points with time up.  Five minutes of injury time however allowed St Loamns to score a goal which made the last few seconds a nail-biting affair.  However, this team just would not contemplate defeat and final whistle gave way to scenes of great celebrations.  Photos will be placed on the website in due course.

Panel:  Jordan Cassidy (capt), Michael Dever, Dean McDermott, Niall Kelly, Liam Varley, David Lynch, David Fennell, Aonghus Clarke, Diarmuid Garvin,  Damien McCormack, Darren Ruane (0-1), Luke Cassidy, Neal Kirby (0-5, 0-3f), Paul Fennell (1-1, 0-1f), Niall O'Brien (0-2, 0-1f)  Subs:  Ciaran Glennon, Niall Gunning, Alan Clarke,

Ennell Shamrocks have reached the minor Premier Final for the first time since 1997 with this win over St. Finians (Coralstown/Kinnegad and The Downs) in a game played in Castletown Geoghegan.  At half time we led 1-05 to 0-05 but our opponents were on level terms within 5 minutes of the second half and had us under a lot of pressure.  As in our quarter final win this team dug in and forged out a well-deserved victory in the end, holding our opponents to just a goal in the second half.

Panel:  Jordan Cassidy, Michael Dever, Dean McDermott, Niall Kelly (0-1), Liam Varley, David Lynch, David Fennell, Aonghus Clarke (0-1), Diarmuid Garvin,  Damien McCormack, Darren Ruane (0-2), Luke Cassidy, Neal Kirby (1-0), Paul Fennell (0-6, 0-4f), Niall O'Brien (0-1)  Subs:  Ciaran Glennon (1-0), Niall Gunning, Alan Clarke, Eoin Quinn, Ed Bermingham, Michael Heeney, Enda Claffey, Cathal Tynan, Frankie Deegan, Niall Moran, Briall Killian (inj).

Ennell Shamrocks             2 - 09

St. Patricks                       2 - 07

We qualified for the semi final of the premier championship with a hard earned victory over a good St. Pats side in this game played in Ballinagore.  Going in at half time we were behind 4 points to two and it didn't look to be our night as we had missed several gilt-edged opportunities in the first half.  However an early goal from Jordie Cassidy who had moved up to corner forward for the second half settled the team and in spite of a late scare we held on for victory.

Panel:  Jordan Cassidy (2-0), Niall Gunning, Aonghus Clarke (0-1), Michael Dever, Liam Varley, David Lynch, Brian Killian, Diarmuid Garvin, Niall Kelly, Damien McCormack, David Fennell, Luke Cassidy, Neal Kirby (0-5, 0-2f), Niall O'Brien (0-3, 0-1f), Dean McDermott.  Subs:  Ciaran Glennon, Conol Ennis, Eoin Quinn, Ed Bermingham, Alan Clarke, Michael Heeney, Diarmuid Raleigh, Enda Claffey, Cathal Tynan.

Our Minors shared the points in this top of the table clash played in Lakepoint Park.  Lomans held a 2-4 to 0-3 lead at half time having played with a very strong wind.  Playing with great skill and passion our lads whittled away at our opponents big lead and were pressing for a winner when full time was blown.  Well done to all the panel on a very courageous display.

Panel:  Eoin Quinn, Michael Dever, Dean McDermott, Niall Gunning,Liam Varley, Aonghus Clarke, Brian Killian, Diarmuid Garvin (0-4f), Luke Cassidy (capt), Ciaran Glennon, Darren Ruane (0-3), Luke Peppard, Neal Kirby (0-2), Niall Kelly, Diarmuid Raleigh (0-2), Frankie Deegan, Ed Bermingham.

Our Minors had their first game since early May when we took on Athlone in Ballinagore on Friday last.  We were short a few regulars and had to pull out all the stops to record a three point win over a good Athlone side.  The final score was St. Malachys/Ballinagore 0-14, Athlone 2-5

Panel:  Eoin Quinn, Ciaran Glennon, Niall Kelly (0-1), Niall Gunning, Liam Varley, Dean McDermott, Brian Killian, Diarmuid Garvin (0-1f), Luke Cassidy (capt), Michael Dever, Darren Ruane (0-7, 0-2f), David Pidgeon, Luke Peppard, Aonghus Clarke (0-4, 0-1f), Diarmuid Raleigh (0-1), Frankie Deegan.

Missing many of our regular first team players, we went into this game more in hope than confidence but as usual this bunch of players pulled out all the stops to record a convincing win.  This side play a very stylish brand of football which was a joy for the good crowd present to watch.  An interesting fact was that all our scores came from play.

Team:  Eoin Quinn, Ciaran Glennon, Dean McDermott, Niall Gunning, Enda Claffey, Niall Kelly, Liam Varley, David Lynch (1-3), Luke Cassidy, Michael Dever (0-2), Darren  Ruane (0-3), Diarmuid Raleigh (0-1), Cathal Tynan (0-2), Neal Kirby (2-3), Niall O'Brien (1-5), Michael Heeney.

Minor Championship Division 2 Final
(14th November, 2009)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             3 - 07

Garrycastle                                 1 - 07

This was certainly a final we won against all the odds when we toppled firm favourites Garrycastle who had already beaten us in the League earlier in the year and had a few Senior players on their team.   In addition we were minus the services of Aonghus Clarke who was away on a well-deserved holiday and flu victim Niall Kelly was unable to start.

Having lost the toss we were given wind advantage in the first half and a good start was essential.  Having soaked up relentless Garrycastle pressure for the first five minutes we scored a goal in our first attack courtesy of full-forward Darren Ruane.  This was followed by another goal two minutes later by Neal Kirby and suddenly an upset was on the cards.  We tacked on five further points in the first half to lead 2-5 to 0-3 at half time.

With a strong wind in their favour Garrycastle looked well capable of overhauling our interval lead but a Luke Peppard goal rocked them on their heels.  Garrycastle were camped in our half for the next 20 minutes and got our lead down to six points with ten minutes to go and looked the more likely winners.   However, some outstanding goalkeeping  by Niall Kelly who joined the fray despite being under the weather kept us in the game.  A pointed free from Diarmuid Garvin and a great breakaway point from Ciaran Glennon kept us with a six point cushion and after three minutes of injury time we were crowned Division 2 Champions for 2009.  After the game captain Paul Newman received the cup and this victory made up for the many hard breaks this panel had endured in finals over the last few years.

Congratulations to the entire panel and to mentors Ciaran Kirby and Gerry Claffey.

Team: Noel Claffey, Michael Dever, Paul Newman (capt), Dean McDermott, Brian Killian, Colin O'Brien (0-1)David Lynch, Dairmuid Garvin (0-1f), Luke Cassidy, Brian Sheerin, Jordan Cassidy, Eoin Whelan, Neal Kirby (1-1), Darren Ruane (1-1), Niall O'Brien (0-1f), Subs:  Niall Kelly, Luke Peppard (1-1), Kieran Glennon (0-1), Niall Gunning, Eoin Quinn.

Minor Championship Division 2 Semi-Final
(7th November, 2009)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             1 - 12

Rosemount                                 2 - 08

After this fixture being called off twice we finally got to play our semi-final against Rosemount in terrible conditions in Ballinagore on Saturday 7th November.  Missing a few regular starters we were always going to be up against it playing a strong Rosemount side.  We went two points up early on but were rocked by a goal from our opponents and it took until the stroke of half-time to claw our way back into the lead with the score 0-6 to 1-2 in our favour at the break.  The highlight of the half was a brilliant diving save from Mike Dever to keep our a very questionable penalty decision against us.

The second half was a huge battle as the pitch was really cutting up badly but both sides served up a thriller with quality defending and scores keeping the large attendance entralled.  With extra time looming Luke Peppard popped over the winning point to put us into the Division 2 Final for the second year running.

Team: Mike Dever, Dean McDermott, Paul Newman (capt), Niall Kelly (0-1), Brian Killian, Colin O'Brien, Jordan Cassidy, Aonghus Clarke, David Lynch (1-0), Luke Cassidy, Brian Sheerin, Eoin Whelan (0-2), Neal Kirby (0-4), Darren Ruane (0-2), Niall O'Brien (0-2f), Subs:  Eoin Quinn, Kieran Glennon, Niall Gunning, Luke Peppard (0-1).

Minor Championship Division 2
(12th September, 2009)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             3 - 08

Rosemount                                 0 - 10

This was a cracking game of football played in ideal conditions on Sunday morning last.  Coming up to half time we looked to be in trouble as we struggled to keep a grip on our opponents who were leading by 0 - 06 to 0-02, but a quick fire 1 - 02 sent us into the break leading by a point.

The second half was also a closely fought affair but each time Rosemount looked to be getting the upper hand we replied with well worked goals to hold on for a well deserved win.  Well done to Aonghus Clarke who lined out with a bad foot injury and to Luke Cassidy who travelled up from Galway for the game.

Team: Noel Claffey, Dean McDermott, Paul Newman (capt), Niall Kelly, Brian Killian, Colin O'Brien, Jordan Cassidy, Diarmuid Garvin, Brian Sheerin, David Lynch (0-01), Darren Ruane (0-01), Luke Cassidy (0-01), Niall O'Brien (1-2), Aonghus Clarke (1-1), Neal Kirby (1-2).  Subs: Michael Dever, Eoin Whelan (0-1), Luke Peppard, Eoin Quinn, Kieran Glennon.

Our Minors  overcame the  handicap of lining out without  senior player Darren Ruane to record a resounding victory overy Millmore Gaels in Ballinagore.  We now play the winners of Rosemount and Castleday in the next round.  The only disappointment on the night was a bad finger injury sustained by Niall Kelly and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Team: Noel Claffey, Dean McDermott, Paul Newman, Niall Kelly, Brian Killian, Colin O'Brien, David Lynch, Diarmuid Garvin (0-2f), Brian Sheerin (0-1), Michael Dever, Jordan Cassidy (1-1), Luke Cassidy, Niall O'Brien (0-3), Aonghus Clarke (1-2), Neal Kirby (1-1).  Subs: Eoin Whelan (0-1), Kevin Gannon, Cathal Tynan, Eoin Quinn, Kieran Glennon, Pauric Kirby (inj).

Our  Minors played their last league game away to  Garrycastle and despite coming away with a  two-point defeat our team played very well on the night.  With this team going into the  Division 2 Championship we would hope to do well as we put up a good show in all our games in Divsion 1.

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             3 - 09
 Coralstown/Kinnegad                  2 - 16

Yet again we were missing a number players due to holidays/Gaelteacht when we entertained Coralstown/Kinnegad in our second game in a week, played in Ballinagore on 8th July.  At half-time we were 1-11 to 1-02 down and could easily have thrown in the towel to our much stronger opponents.  However, a tremendous fight back in the second half brought us to within a goal of Coralstown/Kinnegad with a few minutes remaining and once again showed that no matter how strong the opposition are, this team always gives 100% to the very end.

Team: Noel Claffey, Dean McDermott, Paul Newman, Michael Dever, Kevin Gannon, Colin O'Brien, Brian Killian (1-0), Diarmuid Garvin (0-1f), Brian Sheerin (0-1),  Eoin Whelan, Jordan Cassidy (0-2, 0-1f), Niall O'Brien (0-2), Pauric Kirby, Neal Kirby (2-3), Luke Peppard. Sub: Kieran Glennon, Eoin Quinn, Jonathon Cuskelly (inj), Luke Cassidy (inj).

Minor Division 1

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             0 - 07
 St. Lomans                                4 - 14

Our understrength side were well beaten by one of the favourites for this year's championship on Sunday evening in Ballinagore.  As in all their games this team gave a very honest effort to the very end and notched a few fine scores in the second half.  Our defence never gave up and made the opposition work for all their scores.  A speedy recovery to Jonathon Cuskelly who was injured during the game and well done to Kieran Glennon who togged out for us on the night.

St. Malachys/Ballinagore team was Noel Claffey, Dean McDermott, Paul Newman, Michael Dever, Kevin Gannon, Colin O'Brien, Brian Killian, Diarmuid Garvin (0-3f), Brian Sheerin (0-1),  Jonathon Cuskelly, Eoin Whelan, Niall O'Brien, Pauric Kirby, Jordan Cassidy, Neal Kirby (0-3, 0-1f). St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             1 - 10
 Caulry                                       1 - 10

A draw was a fair result in this very enteraining game of football played in Mount Temple.  Despite going four points down with ten minutes left, this courageous group of players battled back to earn a draw with a free from man of the match, David Lynch.

St. Malachys/Ballinagore team was Noel Claffey, Dean McDermott, Paul Newman, Michael Dever, David Lynch (0-4, 0-3f), Jordan Cassidy, Brian Killian, Diarmuid Garvin, Luke Cassidy, Kevin Gannon, Brian Sheerin (1-1), Eoin Whelan (0-1), Pauric Kirby, Darren Ruane (0-2), Luke Peppard (0-1f). St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 04
 Athlone                                      3 - 08

Athlone was the venue for a Minor League Division 1 fixture which Athlone won on a scoreline of 3-8 to 2-4.  It was a right good game of football and St. Malachys/Ballinagore held their own for most of the game.  St. Malachys/Ballinagore team was Noel Claffey, Dean McDermott, Paul Newman, Niall Gunning, Niall Kelly, Colm O’Brien, Brian Killian, Diarmuid Garvin (0-1f), Luke Cassidy, Jordan Cassidy, Darren Ruane (0-2, 0-1f), Michael Dever, Eoin Whelan (1-1), Aonghus Clarke, Kevin Gannon (1-0), Niall O’Brien.

Minor Division 1
(29th March, 2009)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore              1 - 04
 Maryland/Tang                            0 - 15

This young team acquitted themselves extremely well against a strong and well-balanced outfit.  Having changed over at half-time 8 points to one down, this team really put it up to their opponents in the second half, getting to within three points of them at one stage, but the age and size difference told against us in the end.  Noel Claffey is wished a speedy recovery after having to withdraw in the second half with a knee injury.

Team:   Noel Claffey, Niall Kelly, Paul Newman, Luke Cassidy, Jordan Cassidy, Colin O'Brien, Brian Killian, Diarmuid Garvin, Aonghus Clarke (0-1), David Lynch (0-1), Brian Sheerin (0-1), Dean McDermott, Eoin Whelan (0-1), Darren Ruane,

 Mullingar Shamrocks                  2 - 10

This game was played in ideal coniditions in Castletown-Geoghegan and after a great end to end game of football, we did well to run last year's County champions to three points in our first game of the year.

Team:   Niall O'Brien, Brian Killian, Paul Newman, Luke Cassidy, Dean McDermott, Jordan Cassidy, Michael Dever, Diarmuid Garvin (0-2), Aonghus Clarke (0-2), David Lynch (1-1, 0-1f), Brian Sheerin, Eoin Whelan (1-0), Neal Kirby (0-1),  Darren Ruane (0-1), Pauric Kirby.  Subs: Ed Bermingham, Cathal Tynan, Sean Mullarkey

Minor Division 3 League Final
(19th October, 2008)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             0 - 12
 Millmore Gaels                           2 - 09

Our Minor side suffered their second final defeat in the space of a week when they went down by a goal against Millmore Gaels in this game played in Milltown on Sunday morning.  Played in terrible weather conditions we had the advantage of a gale-force wind behind us in the first half and were pleased enough to be leading 10 points to 0-1 approaching half time.  However the concession of a soft goal with the last kick of the first half reduced the half time lead to six points.

Facing the wind in the second half we held out well until with 10 minutes remaining Millmore Gaels scored a goal to bring them within a point of us.  Boosted by this goal they tacked on four unanswered points to leave them a goal ahead of us with five minutes remaining and try as we might we couldn't get in for the equalising goal.

This game also doubled up as the Cormac McGahan Trophy which our minor team play Millmore Gaels for annually.  Many thanks to Jim Dalton for organising everything in his usual efficient manner.

This ends the season for our Minors, who in spite of not getting any silverware, can be very proud of their achievements this year in reaching both the League and Championship Finals.

Minor Division 2 Championship Final
(11th October, 2008)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             1 - 13
 The Downs                                4 - 09

Our Minor Championship campaign ended in defeat last Saturday in Shandonagh.  After a shaky first fifteen minutes when it looked as if The Downs were going to overrun us, we began to settle down and went in at half time behind 1-6 to 0-4.  We re-grouped at the start of the second half and scored the first two points, but two goals scored in quick sucession by The Downs rocked us and before we knew it we were 10 points in arrears, but this team never gives up and with 10 minutes remaining had got back to within 2 points of The Downs.  Just when it looked as if an upset was on the cards The Downs scored their fourth goal in a breakaway attack against the run of play to put the game out of reach.

As just three of our starting fifteen are overage next year, this squad exceeded all expectations this year in coming from Division 3 to contest the Divsion 2 championship final against a team which had come down from Divsion 1.  Hopefully the team can pick up some well-deserved silverware by winning the Division 3 League Final against Millmore Gaels which will take place in the coming weeks.

Many thanks to the huge support that turned up on Saturday and to those that contributed sponsorship to both the Minor and Under 16 teams - St. Malachys Senior Football Club, Ballinagore Senior Football Club, Pat Garvin, Alo Geoghegan, Mick Carey, Ciaran Favier.  Thanks also to Michael Ennis who provided refreshments for the team after the final.

Panel:   Noel Claffey, Niall Kelly, Diarmuid Garvin, Jordan Cassidy (0-1), Paul Newman, Colin O'Brien, Luke Cassidy, Rory Tynan (0-1), Darren Ruane (0-2, 1f), Brian Sheerin, Alan Bouabbse, Dean McDermott, Neal Kirby (1-0), Thomas McDaniels (0-9, 8f), Eoin Whelan, Brian Killian,  Glen Gavigan,

Minor Division 2 Championship Semi Final
(19th September, 2008)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             3 - 12
 Garrycastle                                1 - 04

An outstanding performance by our Minors propelled them into the Div 2 Championship Final with this fine win over pre-match favourites, Garrycastle.  Played under floodlights in Garrycastle on  a lovely night we started very nervously and were 0-2 to 0-1 down after ten minutes, after kicking five wides.  An Alan Bouabbse goal midway through the half really settled the team and we changed ends with a 3-5 to 1-3 lead, having conceded 1-1 in injury time in the first half.  The team really stepped up their performance in the second half only conceding one point with great disciplined defending and tireless tackling all over the field.  In a Kilkenny-like performance no-one could be adjudged to be man of the match and we look forward to meeting either Tubberclair or The Downs in the Final.  The team really supported the large support they received on the night and hope to enjoy the same support for the Final.

Panel:   Noel Claffey, Niall Kelly, Diarmuid Garvin, Jordan Cassidy, Paul Newman, Colin O'Brien, Luke Cassidy(0-1), Rory Tynan (0-1), Aonghus Clarke (0-1), Brian Sheerin, Thomas McDaniels (1-4, 0-2 frees), Dean McDermott (1-0), Darren Ruane(0-2, 0-1f), Alan Bouabbse (1-1), Eoin Whelan (0-2), David Healion, Glen Gavigan, Kevin Gannon, Kevin Healion, Pauric Kirby, Brian Killian, Neal Kirby.

Minor Division 2 Championship Quarter Final
(25th August, 2008)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             4 - 13
 Tubberclair                                1 - 10

In this game played in Ballinagore on Monday last, we ran out convincing winners in a very sporting encounter.  In a tight first half we led 2-4 to 1-3 at half time but in the first 5 minutes of the second half we scored 1-3 without reply to put the game beyond the reach of our opponents, who had kindly agreed to put the match back a week due to the Kilbeggan Grad.  Special thanks to Mike Dever and Jonathon Cuskelly who joined the panel to ensure we could field and both of them played their part in a fine win.

Panel:   Noel Claffey, Niall Kelly, Diarmuid Garvin, Kevin Gannon, Jordan Cassidy, Paul Newman, Luke Cassidy, Rory Tynan (0-2), Brian Sheerin, Mike Dever, Thomas McDaniels (0-10, 0-2 frees), David Healion (1-0), Glen Gavigan (2-0), Alan Bouabbse (1-1), Eoin Whelan, Jonathon Cuskelly, Pauric Kirby inj, Colin O'Brien inj, Neal Kirby inj.

Minor Premier Championship
(30th July, 2008)

Ennell Shamrocks        0 - 8

          St. Lomans                  3 -  20

Our amalgamation side went down badly to a very strong St. Lomans side in this game played in Kilbeggan.

Minor Division 2 Championship
(16th July, 2008)

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             2 - 9
 Killucan                                      2 - 8

It was more in hope than expectation that we travelled to Kinnegad to take on Division 2 team Killucan as we moved out of Division 3 grade for the first time this year.  However, true to form this very dedicated team kept their unbeaten record intact with a one-point win.  The concession of 1-2 after five minutes left us with an uphill battle for the rest of the half and at the change of ends Killucan led 2-4 to 0-5.  We really tore into the opposition after some positional switches for the second half and led by three points with five minutes to go, but it took some great defending to keep Killucan from equalising.  The team can be very proud of their performance and should have no fears about holding their own in this division, whilst also looking forward to their Division 3 League Final later in the year.  Our 18 year olds really came up trumps on the night with great performances by Rory Tynan, Thomas McDaniels and Alan Bouabbse, with Colin O'Brien and Brian Sheerin also giving sterling performances.  Special mention to 'super sub' Brian Killian who contributed 1-1 in the second half.

Panel:  Noel Claffey, Luke Cassidy, Diarmuid Garvin, Niall Kelly, Jordan Cassidy, Colin O'Brien, Eoin Whelan, Rory Tynan, Paul Newman, Kevin Gannon, Thomas McDaniel (1-5, 0-1 free), Brian Sheerin (0-2), Glenn Gavigan, Alan Bouabbse (0-1 free), Kevin Healion Subs: Brian Killian (1-1), Pauric Kirby, David Healion.

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             6 - 11
Moate                                        1 - 07

Playing their second game in five days an understrength minor team recorded a good victory over Moate in this game played in Ballinagore.  Although we led 2-4 to 0-4 at half time we could never pull too far away from our opponents and a fine penalty save from Noel Claffey finally killed off the Moate challenge.  Well done to our three Under 15s Dean, Neal & Aonghus who filled in for our missing panel members over the past week.

Panel:  Noel Claffey, Diarmuid Garvin, Jordan Cassidy, Eoin Whelan, Colin O'Brien, Luke Cassidy, Thomas McDaniel (1-4), Paul Newman, Pauric Kirby, Brian Sheerin, Glenn Gavigan, Aonghus Clarke (2-2), Darren Ruane (2-3). Subs: Neal Kirby (1-2), Dean McDermott

After a long lay-off due to exams our Minors continued where they left off with a hard-fought win over a talented Castledaly side.  Our lack of fitness and match practice almost cost us dearly but this outing will bring the team for their forthcoming fixtures.

St. Malachy's/Ballinagore             4 - 14
Ballynacargy                               1 - 16

In their second game in five days, the Minor team put up another big score when overcoming Ballynacargy in Ballinagore.  Playing against the breeze in the first half we were lucky to go in two points up after scoring two lucky goals against the run of play.  The second half was  a different story with some fine long-range points being scored to leave us top of the division after four games.  A speedy recovery is wished to Pauric Kirby and David Healion who nonetheless turned up on the night to lend their support to their team-mates.

Panel:  James Keegan, Paul Newman, Jordan Cassidy, Brian Killian, Diarmuuid Garvin, Luke Cassidy, Alan Bouabbse, Rory Tynan (1-3), Glenn Gavigan (0-1), Darren Ruane (0-3), Kevin Gannon (1-0), Thomas McDaniel (3-8, 0-4 from frees), Eoin Whelan (0-2).  Subs: Noel Claffey for James Keegan, Kevin Healion for Kevin Gannon, Pauric Kirby, David Healion.
